Wrapping up 2009…Kicking off 2010

Santa (in the unlikely form of the Tyro fixtures computer) has given us an early Christmas present…no game this Sunday (hooray), so the League year ends on the high that was the magnificent performance v Totton.

To help us laugh in the face of Jack Frost (boo, hiss) at Saturday’s training, please bring along some mince pies/seasonal fancies/pickled onions so we may finish around 10.15 or so to have a natter and finish ‘09 with a some social nicities.

We kick off 2010 on Jan 2 (training) and on Jan 3 (home league game v Weston; 2pm KO…let’s wear red again). Please advise of availability.

Sunday, 6 Dec. HOME tie; Leopards v S&D (TT Cup)

Let’s hope for a break in the rain this weekend, as we try (yet again) to play our cup tie v S&D. This weekend (thanks to some bizarre Cup weather rules), we’re at HOME, so it’s our turn to fret over conditions and agonise over the playability of the pitch. 1.30pm meet for a 2pm KO. Let’s stick with RED kit.

First game of the 2009-10 season

The Leopards' first pre-match huddle of the season

Today saw us kick off the season at home against Pace Cougars. Pace are a strong team and provided difficult opposition against which to start the season. All, or at least most, matches kick off at 14.00 this season, as did today’s game. The pitches have had a good summer and are in excellent condition. In spite of a 2-3 scoreline Leopards gaffer Jim was sanguine in his appraisal of our first run-out, saying, “Result notwithstanding [it was] an encouraging performance in parts”. Well done to all the players, who are juggling weekend footy with coming to terms with their new school environments. Enjoy the season everyone.

Also provided is a link to the web site for the Southampton & District Tyro League, in which we’re playing in Division Four and called “Littleton B”.

It’s coming home (again) … 2009-10 season

Having now digested the hand-outs from yesterday’s pre-season meeting and scanned some highlights back in to the electronic format from whence they came, there are a few pages that may be of interest that you can download by clicking here (the quality’s not great but it keeps the file-size lower).

We start the new season on Sunday 6th September at home to Pace Cougars. Our kick-off time for home games is 14:00.
