Nearly there…

Firstly, well done to everyone who braved the weather last Sunday. It was very, very wet, we all got very cold, but…the boys put together a skilful and at times dogged performance to wrap up our home matches for the season (P 7, W 5, D1, L 1). And the three goals (another brace from Big Al and a lovely chip from Charlie to seal it) were of the highest quality. Well Done.

If it’s wet, grim and nasty this Saturday, we’ll award ourselves a day off, but arrange an indoor session…(let me know your appetite). If weather is OK, we’ll have a light training session as usual.

Our final match of the league season is on Sunday 27th Feb, away to S&D (2pm KO), in a match which may yet determine 3rd place

The weather may be grim, the faux bonhomie of Christmas may be wearisome and there may be swarms of germs laying people low, but now is not the time to lose focus and momentum. With just 2 games left in the calendar year, let’s put in 2 big performances to build on the good start we’ve made, finish the year on a high and enter 2011 in the best shape possible.

Wrap up well for this weekend’s home league game, the return fixture of the season’s opener v Colden Common. 11.30 meet for noon KO, blue/white kit.

And let’s keep up the good stuff from last weekend’s very positive performance, and bang in a few goals in what is a six-pointer.

We kick off the second half of our Tyro League season away at Hiltingbury Rec, Hiltingbury Road, Chandlers Ford SO53 5NP. 1.30 meet for 2pm KO. Blue/white kit.

I’m away this weekend, so am sorry to miss both training and the match. But you should all be refreshed after having a break last Sunday, and I know you all have the hunger, desire and skill to build on a good start to the season by putting in a good performance this weekend.

We have a squad of 14 for Sunday; please let Todd (07979 690024) or me know if you can offer anyone a lift to/from game.

Oct 31 v Weston (h)

Only 1 more game in October, after which we’ll have played half our Tyro league games. (We have a deserved break the following weekend, so let’s go into it off the back of a good performance).

Apart from Charlie, we have a full squad to choose from and Todd and I look forward to seeing everyone raring to go after some rest over half-term (ie, no excuses for tiredness). 11.30 meet for Noon KO. Blue/white shirts.

Sun Oct 10th. Leopards v Testwood (h)

Weathere permitting, we have a noon KO at home to Testwood, against whom we ever so nearly grabbed all 3 points in September.

Theo is still in plaster, so Steve steps up as captain, and George Royall becomes vice-captain. Let’s kick off October with a big, committed performance and keep ourselves up at the right end of the table.

I’m assuming everyone is available for selection.
