The queue for the restaurant
Thank you to everyone for managing, in true British fashion, to grin and not only bear but possibly even enjoy the dreary conditions today as we celebrated how lucky we are, via the medium of sport, and in doing so raised some money to help those on the planet far less fortunate than ourselves.
If anything, the damp weather probably added to the authenticity of what transpired to be a splendid game of mediaeval football, which was followed by some of Bill’s world-famous Bacon Butties – a refreshing touch of haute cuisine and spirit of the Carolingian Renaissance amidst the Dark Ages that had been re-enacted by the umpteen-a-side, un-referee-able football match, its pig’s bladder-esque subtlety, lamentable indiscipline and general disregard for the finer things in life such as close control, passing skills and bacon butties.
Anyway, and as mentioned, all proceeds will be donated to the Sport Relief cause. The exact amount raised is still to be confirmed. So much cash poured in—and in such small denominations—it’s still being counted.
